Maggie Cawley, Founder

Maggie Cawley founded Boomerang Geospatial in 2013. She has traveled worldwide to support mapping efforts, conservation projects, and develop educational programs.

Maps provide a unique and powerful way of conveying information, and Maggie sees mapping as a integral tool in education and in the protection of our natural and cultural resources. She strives to utilize open source tools where possible, and empower others to harness the power of maps.

Maggie is part of the TeachOSM initiative and develops customized curriculum around open data for all ages and experience levels. She is also a board member with OpenStreetMap-US, and believes in the strength of community and collaboration.

Prior to starting Boomerang, Maggie spent five years as an Environmental Planner and GIS Analyst for Environmental Resources Management. She holds a Bachelors Degree from University of Richmond, a Master's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from VCU, and a Certificate in GIS from Johns Hopkins.
